Porcelain veneers, placed at our Calgary clinic, can be a very effective way to repair or enhance your smile. They can beautify your smile and help boost your confidence!

All services are provided by a General Dentist in Calgary

Dr. Nagra, Dr. Nowak and Dr. Wasik are general dentists, not cosmetic dentist specialists. Cosmetic dentistry is not a term/specialty recognized by the Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C). Dr. Nagra, Dr. Nowak and Dr. Wasik provide cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain veneers, dental implant crowns, dental bonding, and teeth whitening as part of their general dentist license.

We use porcelain veneers to:

  • Change the shape and colour of teeth
  • Close gaps between teeth
  • Lengthen and correct small or misshapen teeth
  • Repair cracked, broken or chipped teeth
  • Whiten darkened or yellow stained teeth
  • Straighten crooked teeth without orthodontics

We can place porcelain veneers for one or two problem teeth at our Calgary clinic, or for several teeth to improve your whole smile.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-coloured porcelain that can be bonded to the front of your teeth to change their appearance. They look and function just like your natural teeth, so neither you nor anyone else will be able to tell that you have veneers.

How we place porcelain veneers

After a thorough examination and discussions with you, it only takes two appointments at our Calgary clinic to restore your teeth with porcelain veneers.

Your teeth are shaped and prepared at your first appointment and an impression of your mouth is taken. A precise model of your teeth is then fabricated, which ensures your veneers are crafted to exactly fit your teeth.

On your second appointment we bond your porcelain veneers to your teeth with a strong adhesive, and the process is then complete.

Since the bonding is extremely strong, veneers virtually become part of your teeth. They will feel and function just like your natural teeth.

Common Questions about Porcelain Veneers

Can anyone get porcelain veneers?

The majority of people are good candidates for porcelain veneers, but there are a few requirements that we will examine and discuss with you:

  • You must have healthy gums and be free of gum disease
  • You must be in good oral health
  • Your bite must be carefully assessed to ensure the longevity of your veneers

If you are not a good candidate for porcelain veneers, Dr. Nagra, Dr. Nowak or Dr. Wasik will discuss alternative treatments for your cosmetic dental needs.

Are porcelain veneers always the best option?

No, depending on your circumstances you may have several options for correcting your teeth or smile. For instance, dental bonding may be recommended for a minor chipped tooth, and orthodontics (through a referral by the dentists of Ambiance Dental to a specialist) may be required if your teeth are too crooked for treatment with porcelain veneers.

Will porcelain veneers help whiten my teeth?

Absolutely! Porcelain veneers are overall the most effective solution for teeth whitening, and are sometimes the only solution for particular conditions (e.g. tetracycline staining) where Zoom Teeth Whitening can’t offer the same results. However, porcelain veneers can be used in conjunction with Zoom and the two are commonly paired, often with a laser gum lift as well, to give you the most brilliant results.

If you are having porcelain veneers placed to correct other issues with your teeth, Dr. Nagra, Dr. Nowak or Dr. Wasik will also take the colour of your teeth into consideration and will use precise colour selection to ensure a good match.

Is it painful to have porcelain veneers placed?

No. Local anesthetics are used when your teeth are shaped and prepared for your veneers, as well as when they’re placed. We will remain very conscious of how the experience will feel for you during treatment.
